It is never too early to learn about how money works and understand one’s relationship with money. For many high school learners, financial literacy is a skill that is never taught, often leading to costly financial mistakes later in their lives. Furthermore, money in many households is a taboo topic, where parents seldom talk about money. The consequence of this is many learners leave high school to further their studies at institutions of higher learning and struggle to manage their finances i.e., National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS). This leads to costly financial mistakes, which they carry into their adult life. The Young Money Investing Program, powered by STANLIB Lesotho seeks to help learners manage their finances and grasp investment fundamentals.
